So you have decided that you want to get into the wholesale marketing scene. This is great as it is one of the fastest growing industries on the net, actually it is one of the fastest growing industries period. So, what have you decided to sell? Have you figured that part out yet, or are you still up in the air with this one? There are some very important things to consider when going with wholesale Internet marketing. Capital is a big issue, yet many people who are savvy can get around this one. You could take out a loan secured by an asset of yours. This asset could be a car, a home, or any other item you own that can satisfy a bank's requirements. You could use credit cards to fund your new endeavor. Believe it or not many small businesses start out this way. You could search for private investors also. Oftentimes this can be as simple a checking out your local newspaper in the classifieds section. Many investors list their investment requirements there. One last method you could try is applying for government grants. This is long and arduous so I would save this for last. Try to avoid government entanglements at all costs. Most times its not worth the effort.
Another big issue will be the storage and product capacity problem. Consider these issues carefully. Have you ever considered selling stuff that people collect? What about sports cards? This is a very big market, and you could easily find space in even a modest sized home for the product to be shipped in mass quantity. This is a market that is taking off; there are people in every walk of life that collect sports cards. From hockey cards to baseball cards the product is still the same, small and easy to store until it is sold and shipped. You see the problem with choosing a large-scale item such as clothing, or stereo equipment. These items require adequate space to store until shipped. If you are just starting out, renting a storage space for the product makes for a sure fire crash in your profits. Not to mention the insurance you will want to take out to keep you and the wholesaler safe, in the event of theft or fire. Oftentimes you can get involved with companies that will drop ship directly to your clients once you order. This situation is often the best to start with. As you can imagine it will dramatically cut your overhead costs.
The major problem with dropshipping is that sometimes the wholesale company will charge you for the cost of storage and shipping. Many times these wholesales do not care which method of shipping they use. They do it the way they want and charge you for it. This is not always a problem for you because you could just raise the prices to your clients, but if the cost is too high you could lose business to cheaper competitors. Just be careful when allowing someone else to store and ship your products. Make sure it is beneficial to you. It is for the above reason that smaller items that are popular may be the best bet for positive results and a chance to keep all of your profits. Weigh the cost vs. the benefits and decide which method suits you best.
